Memorial Day Fun

So there I was minding my own business, when out of the blue came this rogue thought; its Memorial Day and I need to celebrate. So with nothing to do, and it being my day off, I figured the best way to celebrate the memory of those loved ones who have passed on would be to have a bon fire and burn stuff. Yes thats right I celebrated the memory of the dead by burning some dead stuff. I thought it was fitting, grotesque, but fitting. Oh and the best part was while I was moving piles of branches to the disposal site I found this delicious slug. Aint he purdy.

Grandmothers Day

So there I was minding my own business, when out of the blue came this rogue holiday, Mothers Day (or in my case Grandmothers Day). Went down to the Manor to go visit Grandma on sunday for the big holiday. Brought her some lilacs and her gift from mom and dad, which I of course forgot and had to go back for. Aside from her enjoying her gifts and the company there isnt a whole lot to say. For now Grandma is doing well, as best as she can considering her situation. Heres the pictures from my visit.

At first Grandma couldnt get her gift open. Mom had chosen some plastic wrapping paper that proved to be too much for her so she called in some reinforcements, Grandpas pocket knife. After having gotten it open she just wanted to stare at it for hours. I finally talked her into looking away for a minute and giving me a cheesy smile.

Finally!!!! My Dream Come True!!!

So there I was minding my own business, when out of the blue came this rogue idea of going to the coast on my day off. So I talked to my buddy Zach and we planned a trip to Newport. Then out of the blue he suggested we go fishing while we were there. Of course we all know the answer to that, as if there might be more than one. So we drive down to Newport in hopes of finding a boat that would have seats open for that afternoon. We werent too hopeful but we wanted to try anyway. The first one that we tried really got my hopes down. They offered us seats for a friday trip, this being wednesday. LAME!! UNCOOL!! Back into the car and off to the next place. we figured one of the five or so on the street would let us out. Inside we went. The nice lady behind the counter said "sure we can take you out, if you have four or more people." This challenge was very doable. After a couple phone calls, lo and behold, we had four. So there we were waitng for our 130 launch time, which was only two hours away, and as the moments ticked on I got more and more excited. Finally we boarded the boat.

This is our boat the Ocean Captain with Captain Shannon and our awesome deckhand Carl. Carl was 72 years old and has been doing this for 59 years, you do the math. Carl really didnt say much, but it was very amusing watching him walk around the boat while eating a sandwich, smoking, and rigging the poles all whild trying to keep his balance in the 20 foot seas.

This is our deckhand Carl Clubbing our catch.

Left to right: Zach, Greg, Josh.

On this fishing trip there were many types of fish that we could catch but the most likely were sea bass, rock fish, and the elusive Ling cod. I was very excited when we were out fishing and I caught a cod, especially when we were done and I was the only one that got one. Yessssss.

This is my cod, isnt it beautiful!!

I also caught this fish that was one of the coolest fish Ive ever seen. Check it out, Its flourecent orange. Unfortunately I had to throw this guy back, something about being endangered or something.

So there you have it. Here are some of the other pictures of the day.

Best Day EVER!!!
